Mariah Carey was taken to a hospital in New York on Wednesday, due to a severe flu. The singer is currently hooked up to IVs that are filling her up with fluids and vitamins to fight off the symptoms. She’s slated to perform a special concert on Saturday in New Jersey, but that remains up in the air right now.
Carey reportedly began feeling ill after an appearance at New York’s Pier One on Tuesday night. When she woke up on Wednesday morning suffering from extreme dehydration, Carey’s team rushed her to the hospital. The singer is said to be making a steady recover, and is expected to be released sometime later in the day.
It’s currently unknown, however, if Carey’s illness will affect her participation in Hot 97’s “Hot for the Holidays” concert, which is set for Saturday in New Jersey.
As Gossip Cop reported, Carey had to cancel one of her “#1 To Infinity” shows in Las Vegas earlier this year after coming down with a bad case of bronchitis. The cancellation came just one week into her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and after only three performances.
Gossip Cop will have updates on Carey’s condition as we gather more information.
