‘The two have an amicable relationship and will remain friends. They ask that people respect their privacy during this time.’

Katharine, 30, had already separated from Cokas, who is 19 years her senior, when she was spotted kissing her married Smash director Michael Morris in October of last year.

Morris’ wife is In Plain Sight star Mary McCormack and the two have been wed a decade.

It seemed that Katharine and Cokas might be on the road to reconciliation when they were spotted together in March with their dogs and looking happy.

However, both parties ultimately decided to part ways, with a source telling People: ‘It was just time. They’d grown apart and weren’t right for each other anymore.’

The age difference apparently wasn’t a problem. ‘When I turned 21, I thought it was a good age to explore,’ Katharine previously told Stuff magazine. ‘You’re no longer a teenager, so it’s OK [to date older guys]. I gravitated toward them, and I love them.

‘They’re just wiser, and they’re less about themselves and more about you.’
