Sophia Loren, 79, seems keen to make sure she always has a pair of glasses on her, as she stepped out wearing not one, but two pairs in Cannes on Wednesday.
The screen icon balanced one on top of her head and wore the other pair, at least giving herself a bit of choice if she wanted to alternate her look throughout the day.
Looking much younger than her years, the stunning star headed to a photo call, for Cannes Classics, where she stood out in a bright red ensemble.

Speaking to the Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye, the screen legend said she was surprised she became a star because she was ‘never beautiful’.
She also confessed that getting older is ‘is very tough’ as she approaches her eightieth birthday in September.
‘Life is not easy. Life is very tough especially if you have lived for a long time ‘ the Italian star said , adding that now she counts the ‘seconds,minutes and hours.
But, she declared , she’s ‘ a very happy person because I have lived.I created a family with children and grand-children. But life goes on and you do get older’.

Loren was giving a masterclass at the Cannes Film Festival where she discussed her films and many of the people she has worked with for over six decades.
She also gave advice to actors and film fans.
She admitted that her career took some time to take flight because of her looks.
‘They complained that my mouth is too wide, my nose is too long .I was never hired after doing auditions. But I said I can’t change my nose or my chin’, she said.

She continued:’I’ve never been beautiful . People never wanted to hire me .People wanted to change my nose , straightening my teeth .I suffered a lot because people said I wasn’t photogenic at all. But bit by because cinematographers learnt how to portray my face on the screen. They learnt how to light my face’.
She talked about her many leading men including Frank Sinatra , Gregory Peck and Cary Grant.
She broke down when discussing the fourteen movies she made with Marcello Mastroianni .

The actress said working with Marlon Brando on Charlie Chaplin’s The Countess From Hong Kong was difficult because Brando was often late arriving on set and that he ballooned in weight because he ate too much ice cream.
On Monday, Loren was awarded the 2014 Guest of Honor for Cannes Classics, a festival selection dedicated to the heritage of film – honouring her almost seven-decade long career.
As she walked out to a sea of photographers, the legendary artist gasped and pulled her hand to her mouth – as if she couldn’t quite believe what she was seeing.
She held hands with her son, Edoardo Ponti, who appeared to have a proud tear in his eye.

The star looked delighted to be at the event as she was seen sporting a broad smile and throwing her arms up in the air to great delight.
Sophia – who won an Academy Award for her role in 1960 movie Two Women – also appeared to enjoy waving to her fans and blew kisses at her supporters.
