They surprised everyone by getting engaged following a whirlwind romance but Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are more in love than ever.
Amber, 28, visited her 50-year-old love on the set of his latest movie Black Mass in Boston and she provided such a distraction that he left his mark during filming in order to indulge in a steamy make-out session in front of the cast and crew.
The usually professional star couldn’t resist his younger lover and the couple locked lips for several minutes before he returned to work with a huge smile on his face, while Amber left with a matching satisfied grin of her own.
That’s my man: Amber Heard couldn’t resist a make-out session with Johnny Depp on the set of Black Mass, even though he was wearing a bald cap with receding hairline
Smitten: Amber couldn’t keep the huge smile off her face as she walked away from her fiance following their kiss and Johnny looked pretty happy too
Over the course of his 30 year career, Johnny has hidden his matinee idol good looks through an array of quirky characters including The Mad Hatter in Alice In Wonderland and Pirates Of The Caribbean’s unkempt and eccentric Captain Jack Sparrow.
And he was again nearly unrecognisable in the guise of gangster James ‘Whitey’ Bulger while shooting the movie biopic Black Mass in Boston but Amber didn’t seem to mind.
The actor wore a bald cap with receding hairline along with a leather jacket and jeans for filming but it didn’t stop the pretty actress from getting hot and heavy with him.
Distraction: Amber provided such a distraction that Johnny left his mark during filming in order to indulge in a steamy make-out session in front of the cast and crew
Crazy about each other: Even work can’t get in the way of Johnny and Amber’s chemistry and he rushed to kiss her during filming
The biopic will tell the story of Bulger, who last November received two life sentences and five years for his part in 11 murders and other crimes including drug trafficking, racketeering, extortion and money during the 1970s through to the 1990s.
The film, directed by Scott Cooper, is based on the book Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob by ex-Boston Globe reporters Dick Lehr and Gerald O’Neill.
Guy Pearce will join Depp as Whitey’s law abiding brother Bill – former president of the Massachusetts Senate, while Joel Edgerton will appear as corrupt FBI Agent John Connolly.
Oblivious: While the crew waited for Johnny to get back to work, he was in no rush to leave Amber
Crazy for each other: Things got hot and heavy between Amber and Johnny as she paid him a visit on the set of Black Mass
Dakota Johnson joins the cast as Bulger’s girlfriend Lindsey – the mother of his six-year-old son Douglas, who dies tragically.
‘The reason to play him is obvious to me,’ Depp told Collider in an interview earlier this year. ‘He’s a fascinating character. It’s not like anything I’ve done before, on that level. I’m very excited to slide into that skin for a little bit.’
And director Cooper said he was determined to ‘get to the root of the psychology and behaviour’ in his film, telling Collider that he was looking forward to working with Depp.
Getting serious: The couple were deep in conversation before passion took over
Waiting around: While the crew waited around to get back to work, Johnny only had time for his fiancee
‘I only want to work with actors to have a strong point of view and who want to race to set,’ he said. ‘And Johnny is that type of actor. He’s always pushing himself and always playing something different. He’s one of the best actors in American screen history.
‘Our hope is to really craft a full-bodied portrait in ways that you haven’t seen. It’s exciting to see an actor like Johnny really attracted to a part like this because you’ve never seen him like this.
Meanwhile, there may be a 22 year age difference between Johnny and Amber, who fell for each other on the set of the film The Rum Diary, but the actor said in a recent interview that he doesn’t think it’s a problem.
Not his best look: Although he hid his movie star looks under a bald cap, Amber didn’t seem to care
Dead ringer: Johnny looked just like Whitey Bulger thanks to his fake receding hairline
‘I don’t think so,’ he said. ‘I’ve got a lot of life experience, certainly, but I don’t feel like I’m looking down on her. Or being her mentor. I actually feel like she’s the one inspiring me.’
Johnny – who separated from long-term partner Vanessa Paradis, the mother of his children Lily-Rose, 14, and Jack, 11, in the summer of 2012 – also explained why he now feels ready to walk down the aisle with Amber, claiming he never felt ready for marriage until now.
Discussing his reluctance to wed Vanessa, he told Télé 2 Semaines magazine: ‘Sometimes, even things that seem simple and obvious are scary.
And she’s off: After her steamy make-out session, Amber left with a huge grin on her face
‘I think age, experience and wisdom give us the capacity to move beyond certain stages we didn’t dare cross before.’
The Transcendence actor also revealed he would jump at the chance to return to his hedonistic youthful antics if he was told he only had a few weeks left to live.
He joked: ‘I would party every day with all the people I love. I would also take all the substances possible and imaginable… I would even try and drink bleach!’.
Don’t mess with the mob: Johnny and his co-stars gave a realistic impression of the mob on set.
