She’s made no secret of her joy at shedding 20lbs.

And Debra Messing happily showed off the results by posting a sexy selfie in a bikini on her WhoSay account.

‘I’ve decided- SOAKING UP SUNSHINE IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL ( ok maybe not the skin…) #healing,’ she wrote.

The picture was one of a stream of updates from the former Will and Grace star as she enjoyed a tropical vacation while attending a friend’s wedding over the weekend.

But it was back to real life as she covered up in a baggy sweater to brace the chilly New York City breeze on Monday morning.

The 45-year-old actress appeared to have slept in her make-up as her mascara looked left-over from yesterday and her normal foundation was no where to be seen.

The native New Yorker lives in the Big Apple with her 10-year-old son, Roman Walker.

Her son’s father is ex-husband and screenwriter Daniel Zelman, 46, whom she met while studying at New York University in the 90s.

Debra used her days of rest and relaxation in the tropical paradise to deal with the painful loss of her mom less than two months ago.

In photos posted to various social media channels, the actress used hashtags like ‘healing’ and ‘watertherapy’ as captions for pictures she posted at the beach and by the pool.

Before heading off on her vacation the actress attended NBC’s upfront event on May 12 in New York.

The redhead looked stunning in a bright orange-red dress with a small cut-out on the side. Her naturally curly tresses were worn straight with a deep side-part.

Debra celebrated the announcement of her upcoming show, The Mysteries of Laura, a comedy-drama about a homicide detective in New York who is also a single mom to twin boys.
